Research is ongoing in several fields related to mental illness.
It is a long process and breakthrough are rare. The Scottish Mental Health Research Network was launched in 2007 to facilitate the development, set up and successful completion of mental health research studies across Scotland.
Support in Mind Scotland is liaising with the network to keep up to date and participate when possible.
