Genesis - Dumfries

The Genesis Project is a computer training project run by Support In Mind (Scotland), for people aged 16 to 65 with a diagnosis of mental illness.

We accept referrals from the Community Mental Health Teams and other allied health professionals.

Many people find it difficult to regain confidence and self-esteem after experiencing mental illness. The general aim of the project is to help you feel more in control of your own life and feel empowered to make decisions which could improve the quality of your life in the community. By doing some ICT training at the Genesis Project, you may improve your chances of access paid and unpaid employment, training and education.

Computer Training

• You should aim to attend the project for at least six hours per week, at times and days that suit you.
• Project staff provide training and support, although some work will be on your own initiative.
• Courses are designed for the complete beginner up to advanced level, so you can study at your own pace and level.

Courses:

• SQA National Units (Approved Training Centre)
• ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence)
• ECDL Advanced

Friday (10am-1pm)
