More than  just a good cause

We need your support because:

  • 1 in 100 people will experience schizophrenia.
  • 1 in 4 will experience mental ill health at some point in their lives.
  • People with serious mental ill health are likely to die 15 to 20 years before the rest of us.

Examples of what fundraising has helped us provide:

Every penny you donate or raise for Support in Mind Scotland is appreciated. Whether it is £1, £5, £10, £100 or £1,000 it can all add up to help us make a difference. To give you an idea of what fundraising and donations can achieve...

  • £5: allows us to provide 15 minutes of telephone signposting and information to people affected by a mental health issue
  • £10:  this is what it costs for someone to attend one of our resource centres for a day to receive support, practical help, social contact and healthy hot meals.

  • £25: allows us to hold a mental health carers support group

  • £50: allows us to support a vulnerable volunteer to take the first steps back to work

  • £1,000: allowed us to employ a carer as a sessional worker in Glasgow for a year to provide essential peer support to other mental health carers.

  • £10,000: allowed us to develop a peer working project in Dumfries and Galloway to employ people with serious mental illness to gain work experience for three months.

  • £25,000: allowed us to set up a new 1-to-1 support project for young people aged 14-18 in Dundee with serious mental health problems to help them develop peer networks and feel less isolated by their illness.

  • £40,000: allowed us to pay for 200 carers throughout Scotland to have a break from caring.

Thank you for donating to Support in Mind Scotland and helping us to deliver vital mental health services across Scotland.
