LOCAL POTATO supplier Branston has donated an impressive £10,710 to its charity of the year, Support in Mind Scotland.

Support in Mind Scotland's fundraising manager Colin Leslie and fundraising officer Iain Mitchell visited staff at Branston's Abernethy site near Perth to thank staff and pick up the cheque, which will help Support in Mind Scotland continue to deliver vital mental health services across the country.

Frances Simpson, CEO of Support in Mind Scotland said: “We were delighted when Branston chose us as their charity of the year and we are so thankful to have been given this generous donation. The Branston team has demonstrated their commitment to supporting the mental well-being of their staff, as well as showing a great deal of enthusiasm for fundraising.”

Simon Telfer, HR director at Branston - who had a similar charity of the year partnership with our sister charity Rethink Mental Illness in England - said: “We’re proud to have worked with a mental health charity this year, as it touches so many lives within our business. Despite accounting for over half of all lost work days last year, mental health still has a lot of stigma attached to it. It’s great to see workplace wellbeing being more openly discussed and we want to support the vital services for those who need it.

“Our suppliers have continued to support us with our fundraising activity over the year and we’d like to thank them for helping us to raise money for such a worthwhile charity.”

Throughout 2018, the Branston team at the Scotland site took part in a variety of fundraising activities including a Century Cycle Ride, charity raffle and sponsored head shave.

Branston is one of the UK’s leading suppliers of potatoes - for leading UK retailers and wholesalers - as well as providing seed for potato growers.
