ON Saturday, 10 October Support in Mind Scotland will be walking to promote Dignity, the theme of this year's World Mental Health Day, for people affected by serious mental illness and their families.

We'll be joined on the walk by service users, supporters and other mental health charities, including Health in Mind and Bipolar Scotland. The stroll, through Holyrood Park in Edinburgh, will be led by Davidson's Mains and District Pipe Band, beginning at Duke's Walk at the Eastern side of the park and continuing along the grass down Queen's Drive, passing the Scottish Parliament and cutting up Holyrood Gait before concluding on Holyrood Road. From there, our walkers will converge on The Serenity Café at 8 Jackson's Entry (off Holyrood Road) where everyone will be greeted with tea, coffee, cake, entertainment and guest speakers, including the mental health activist Graham Morgan MBE.

There are also Dignity walks and events planned elsewhere in Scotland, including Support in Mind Scotland's Kaleidoscope centre in Dumfries.

The walks will officially herald the start of our 1 in 100 campaign, with the aim of having 100 fundraising and awareness events held in 100 days. Our fundraising calendar is beginning to fill up, so if you'd like to know more about the campaign or be part of it yourself click here. 1 in 100 is open to anyone who'd like to get involved, perhaps on behalf of someone else or because you or someone you know has been affected by mental illness, and no event is too big or too small! All the money raised will allow us to continue working to provide the best possible quality of life and wellbeing for those affected by serious mental illness, as well as their families, carers and supporters.
The view of Arthur's Seat our walkers will enjoy on the day (weather subject to change)

The walk will encompass stunning views of Edinburgh
