AN artist from Dumfries & Galloway is exhibiting a collection of his paintings at the prestigious Gracefield Arts Centre this month, and is kindly donating proceeds to Support in Mind Scotland and a local wildlife charity.

Paintings by the talented Douglas Lees, who has participated in Support in Mind Scotland's local Art and Drama groups, will be on show in the cafe area at Gracefield Arts Centre in Edinburgh Road, Dumfries, until 25 March.

Gracefield Arts Centre hosts a changing programme of contemporary and historical art exhibitions throughout the year. These feature regional, national and international artists and craft makers. It also holds a collection of over 600 artworks by Scottish artists and art relating to the region.

It is a big achievement for Douglas to be invited to exhibit his work at Gracefield. He said: "It is hard not to want to be creative in some way or other when one is fortunate enough to live in Dumfries and Galloway. It is hoped that some of these paintings demonstrate that desire.

"This region would be sorely diminished were it not for the work of Charities such as Support In Mind Scotland and South of Scotland Wildlife Hospital. These bodies help our local human and wildlife ‘resources’ in times of their greatest need. All profits from sales will be donated equally to these two charities."
