SUPPORT in Mind Scotland is delighted to unveil its new logo for this year's 1 in 100 Fundraising and Awareness campaign.

Earlier this year we opened up a competition to members and people who use our services to help us find a new design, which will be used as our logo for 1 in 100 which will run from 3 July to 10 October.

One of the first entries we received was a striking mandala, submitted by Jo Batten, Brian Miller and Zoe Hogg from our Stewartry Resource Centre in Castle Douglas.

Several other worthy entries were received from Edinburgh, Dumfries and the Highlands, but the mandala was chosen as the inspiration for our final design - which carries our traditional brand colours of blue and green.

Jo, Brian and Zoe have each won book vouchers for Waterstone's and artist's easel as a prize for their efforts.

"Oh wow, oh wow, that's amazing," said Jo on learning of their success, while Brian described the news as "great" and Zoe responded: "That's awfa good. That's Brilliant!" Zoe and Brian are pictured above with the finished effort.

The mandala was created by the three members of the Printmaking Project for 1 in 100, and Project Worker Gerry McGown described the process behind its creation.

Gerry said: "The Mandala was produced using a simple printing technique. The technique involves tracing a simple design or shape on to shiny card, (cereal boxes), and scoring the outline firmly with a biro. This is then cut out or trimmed to size and 'linked up' with a mixture of oil paint and printing medium. The image can be re-printed many times before it degrades, making some beautiful soft prints".

Jo is pictured below (left) working on the mandala, while you can see the finished product below.

We would like to thank everyone who took the time and effort to enter the 1 in 100 logo competition and hope that you are happy with the new design which is featured on the front page of our latest Newsletter, out now.
