RUGBY legend Scott Hastings has spoken to Radio Stafford 103 about his backing for Support in Mind Scotland's 1 in 100 Fundraising and Awareness Campaign.

Scott's gave the interview to radio presenter Mike Staley (aka Lord Sir DJ MOG) when he attended the Stafford Centre on Monday with his wife Jenny to launch 1 in 100.

Scott praised the "tremendous atmopshere" of the Stafford Centre and talked about his enthuasiasm for getting behind 1 in 100.

The rugby great, who won 65 caps for Scotland between 1986 and 1997 and also represented the British and Irish Lions, is planning to run 100 streets in one day along with Jenny and a group of friends and family.

You can do the same, or instead walk 100 streets in 100 days, run 100 miles in 100 days or walk 100 miles in 100 days. For more information about how to get involved in 1 in 100, please email us at 1in100@supportinmindscotland or call us on 0131 662 4359.

Scott told Radio Stafford how exercise had helped Jenny with her bouts of depression, and said: "It's a great and simple idea. One in 100 people will suffer from psychosis and 1 in 4 will suffer from mental ill health. and this not only helps raise awareness but also promotes the good exercise does for people with mental health issues.

"There are these little things called endorphines that buzz around your body. With exercise, they can give people that lift they are looking for when they are in a dark place.

"I think 1 in 100 can help other people with mental ill health and give them the confidence to go out there as well as having a bit of fun, walking or running 100 streets.

"We have now got the campaign out there and people can pick it up any time in the next 100 days."
