Support in Mind Scotland supports the Youth and Philanthropy Initiative

The Youth Philanthropy Initiative is an annual international competition which encourages young people to explore philanthropy. Pupils at participating schools research local charities and pick one which they would like to support.

We were lucky enough to be approached by Firhill High School pupils Lucy, Jacob, Becca and Liah. This was a great opportunity for us to speak to young people about their own mental health or the mental health of people they may care for.

Lucy, Jacob, Becca and Liah put together a really innovative idea to tell fellow pupils about where to get mental health and mental health carers support. The team worked hard and made it through to the final on 10th November 2014. Although they didn’t win they presented an excellent presentation in what was a very tight competition.

We would like to say a big thank you to each of them for their efforts and wish them every success in the future. For more information about YPI please click,
