COMMUNITY-spirited students and staff from Balwearie High School in Kirkcaldy have raised £455 for Support in Mind Scotland's services in Fife.

The school, which is renowned for its strong community involvement programme, pulled together at Christmas to raise the funds. Staff collected the donation by having envelopes on their Christmas tree and making donations rather than giving each other cards and presents. Sixth year students heard about the initiative and joined in.

The result of their combined efforts was a grand total of £455, and a cheque was handed over to grateful Support in Mind Scotland's Regional Manager for Fife, Marjory Sprunt, at the school.

Also pictured are sixth year pupils Tim Arnstein and Liam Duncan, rector Dr James More, Support in Mind Scotland project worker Moira Duncan and the Balwearie school secretary.
