(Probable extension if funding is secured) Reporting to: Service Manager Interview date: Week commencing 18 August 2021 Closing date: Midday, 9 August 2021 About the Role Support in Mind Scotland has an exciting opportunity in its growing Fife Services for people who wish to support carers of those with Mental Health needs. We are looking for caring empathic individuals who are ready to help with compassion and understanding as well as humour and respect. In this role, you will provide information, guidance and support to carers in both a one-to-one contact and group basis. Our carers’ support services are delivered face-to-face and remotely through online platforms such as Zoom, and phone. You will work with colleagues and partners across the Fife community to ensure the needs of carers are assessed and met. Carers may be relatives or friends of people living with a mental ill-health. You will support carers in their caring role with relevant and straightforward information. You will work with carers to assess their needs and to reflect on how these needs and circumstances can be met or improved upon. You will help carers reflect on how their life is affected by their caring role along with their aspirations and concerns for the future. You will likely work with carers who have their own mental ill-health needs as well as help them understand and support the needs of their loved one with mental illness. Support in Mind Scotland values carers and those with lived experience and would welcome applications from people with this experience and/or experience of supporting people with their mental health. The successful candidate will work as part of an experienced supportive team and will receive induction as well as regular support and supervision to help them in this role. Who are we looking for? The ideal candidate should be interested in people, have excellent social skills and a good sense of humour! Educated to SVQ 3 level or have equivalent work experience in mental health, you may have experience of personal planning and have some experience of assessments and the law and regulations relating to carers and carers’ rights. The successful candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme. A full driving license and access to a vehicle is highly beneficial to this role.
