Challenging Stigma

Support in Mind Scotland was one of the founder members of the See Me campaign in 2002 and remained as one of the Management Group until the review of the campaign in 2012. We have since then joined the Advisory Group as an organisational member and are actively contributing to the national effort to create a movement for change that will see the end of stigma and discrimination faced by people with mental health problems.

Our specific interest and specialist expertise is in challenging stigma associated with schizophrenia and psychosis, and this was highlighted by the review as being an area of weakness within the initial 10 year campaign.

The actions we are taking are:
  • Our 1 in 100 Campaign – challenging stigma and discrimination and encouraging people to get involved with their own 1 in 100 challenge to end stigma. This is a major awareness raising and fundraising campaign launced in October 2014.
