AHEAD of the official launch day of our 1 IN 100 fundraising campaign on 10 October, a range activities have already been taking place at Support in Mind Scotland services throughout the country, and volunteer Christine Hiddleston helped the campaign bloom at Kaleidoscope in Dumfries with a beautiful display of 100 crocheted flowers.

Kaleidoscope manager Emma Scott explained: "Christine made 100 crochet flowers with one being slightly different from all the rest to symbolise the 1:100 affected by schizophrenia."

1 in 100 is our new fundraising campaign, we need your support because:

  • 1 in 100 people will experience schizophrenia

  • In addition, estimates suggest that 20% of our population will experience depression at some point in their lives

  • People with schizophrenia are likely to die 15 to 20 years before the rest of us

  • 92% of people with schizophrenia can’t get employment

  • 87% of people with schizophrenia and their families experience discrimination

  • People who experience schizophrenia have better chances with early interventions
