SUPPORT in Mind Scotland held a successful and informative 2016 Annual Members' Event at The Royal Scots Club in Edinburgh on Friday, 25 November.

Members and staff from all over Scotland attended the event, which included the organisation's annual Business Meeting.

Guest speaker for the day was Dr Gary Morrison from the Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland, who talked about the important work of the Commission with a particular focus on Advanced Statements. His entertaining presentation was followed by a lively question and answer session from the floor.

During the formal business segment of the event, Support in Mind Scotland director Carol Gortmans welcomed everyone to the meeting before Finance Manager Susan Duncan gave a report on how the organisation had performed financially over the past year.

Susan told the meeting: "There are still difficult times ahead with the uncertainty around health and social care integration as different approaches are being taken across Scotland,  but we are working to ensure that Support in Mind Scotland’s name is at the forefront of the funders' minds and the information our members provide us through our surveys significantly helps us with this."

After lunch, our Area Managers and members of the team at National Office participated in table discussions about certain aspects of their work, allowing members to find out more about their roles as well as establishing and strengthening relationships.

The 2016 event was brought to a close by Chief Executive Frances Simpson.
