International Gaming company Rockstar Games has made a generous donation to Support in Mind Scotland as part of a worldwide effort to support charities and communities during the Covid-19 pandemic.

At the beginning of the outbreak in March, Rockstar Games pledged to donate 5% of its revenue from purchases in GTA Online and Red Dead Online during April and May to help those in the communities around its studios and beyond who have been hit hardest by this global pandemic.

Thanks to their player community, the company has been able to make substantial donations to a huge range of charitable endeavours from Edinburgh to India to North America.

The Rockstar North team, based in Edinburgh, selected Support in Mind Scotland, SAMH, Social Bite, Edinburgh Central Foodbank (Trussel Trust) and Foundation Scotland to receive a donation.

In a message to their players, Rockstar said: "It’s truly humbling to see how you have helped make this possible just by coming together to play our games, and we cannot thank you enough for your support. Once again, we thank you all from the bottom of our hearts and hope that everyone continues to stay safe, abide by local regulations and continue to take care of each other."

Colin Leslie, Fundraising and Communications Manager for Support in Mind Scotland, said: "We are incredibly grateful to Rockstar Games, particularly their team based in Edinburgh at Rockstar North, for thinking of us and choosing us to receive this generous and timely support. The donation will make a real difference to the charity and our work supporting people affected by mental illness."
