Stranraer project on the move THERE are exciting times ahead in Stranraer for Support in Mind Scotland as the project moves from George Street to new premises in nearby Thistle Street. Formerly known as The Phoenix Resource Centre, the new premises (pictured above) will come with a new name too as the project becomes Support in Mind Scotland – Stranraer. The project will be closed this week and will reopen, at the new premises, on Monday 5 October. There will be an open day on Friday, 9 October from 10.30am to 3.30pm with light refreshments and hot or cold soft drinks, so please come along to meet staff and service users. It has taken eight years to find suitable new premises for the Stranraer project, and the new base is ideal for the organisation to flourish locally. The new premises at Thistle Street are on the ground floor and have access to disabled toilets. A provision time-table has been drawn up with the following groups provided: healthy cooking, drop-in, gardening, walking, power walking, employment, literacies, SQA, crafts, swimming, weight management, coffee ‘n’ a craic, local history, gym, art and a Tai Chi taster session.
