LIKE the rebirth of a phoenix- or more accurately The Phoenix Resource Centre- Support in Mind Scotland's Stranraer service have finally moved home, and celebrated this with an open day last Friday (9th) welcoming everyone to their new premises.

Now based at Thistle Street, a short walk from the old premises where they spent almost 15 years, the new building is on the ground floor meaning improved accessibilty for users of the service. This proved a big hit with the attendees and had an immediate positive impact with 6 former users who were unable to access the old building returning. The new base certainly looks like being the perfect setting to encourage increased use from the local area.
The open day was a massive success, with an impressive turnout of users of the service, social workers, CPN's, CLD officers, CAMHS and Support in Mind staff, with lots of positive feedback offered. Visitors were treated to a fantastic buffet and what have been described as 'outstanding' cakes! With the project now focusing on developing a wider range of activities and groups as well as growing the number of people using them, the future certainly seems very bright, and busy, for Support in Mind Scotland - Stranraer.

The new address is:
