Fraser is one of our Awareness Raising Volunteer, most recently giving his time to support mental health football team Mental Mechanics FC at their peer support groups. This Volunteers Week, we asked Fraser what volunteering meant to him.

Having battled with mental health issues for most of my adult life, I feel very privileged to be able to give something back. Support in Mind Scotland do wonderful work for so many people and being allowed the opportunity to be a part of that is something I am very proud of.

A huge part of the mental battles I still struggle with revolve around lack of self esteem, anxiety and low confidence but volunteering helps me to challenge myself by stepping out of my comfort zone in a positive and rewarding way.

In these difficult times, the services Support in Mind can offer may be invaluable to many people, and I encourage them to reach out for help.

A massive thank you to all of our volunteers who support our organisation and work to better mental health support across Scotland.
