Mental Health UK brings together 4 mental health charities; Rethink Mental Illness in England, Support in Mind Scotland, Hafal in Wales and Mind Wise in Northern Ireland.

We are seeking an individual who is passionate about improving the lives of young people. 75% of mental illnesses start before a young person reaches their 18th birthday. We believe there is so much that can be done to support young people to develop their resilience, so that they are better equipped for key transitions in their lives. Having conducted extensive research, Mental Health UK has developed a Young Persons Programme called Bloom, which will be piloted in education settings throughout the UK in September 2019. We are delighted to have secured a major corporate partner for 2019 who shares our ambition.

As the Senior Manager of this Programme you be responsible for oversight in your respective nation and also support overall coordination of the programme throughout the UK. The post holder can be located anywhere in the UK but will need to travel regularly to London and on occasions to Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

 

About the Role:

 

  • You will work closely with the programme head and nation managers to ensure the pilot is implemented across the UK, within the given timeframe
  • You will work as nation manager in your respective country providing overall oversight, implementation and monitoring of the programme
  • You will broker relationships with education institutions in your nation, and provide support to the other nations to do the same ensuring there is a standardised approach
  • You will support the nation managers throughout the programme pilot phase and develop strategy for scaling up, past the initial pilot phase
  • You will support the programme head in continuously developing the strategy for the programme, leading the continuous improvement to deliver the best outcomes for young people
  • You will forge new relationships with possible funders to secure the sustainability of the programme

 

About You:

 

  • You will have good understanding of mental health and the policy context in Scotland
  • You will have experience in managing and delivering initiatives that have demonstrably changed people’s skills and behaviours
  • You will have experience of managing multiple workstreams within a project
  • You will have experience of working with stakeholders to develop creative initiatives
