Post: Veterans Liaison Officer and Community Café Coordinator

Location: The Stafford Centre, Edinburgh

Contract: Fixed term contract until 31 March 2021 (Possible extension if funding is secured)

Hours: 12 hours a week, (Evening work will be required)

Salary: £6,543 per annum (£19,085 FTE. Level 3)

About the Role:

Support in Mind Scotland have an exciting opportunity in the Stafford Centre for someone with a passion for supporting former members of the Armed Forces and Emergency Services looking to use their skills and lived experience to make an impact on veterans’ mental health and well-being.

In this role, funded by the Scottish Veterans’ Fund and run in partnership with the Veterans’ Community Café charity, you will be responsible for the veterans group who attend the café and for providing emotional, practical or vocational support to veterans who attend Support in Mind Scotland’s mental health services at the Stafford Centre, Edinburgh.

Working alongside the Stafford Centre team, the role will offer you an opportunity to improve opportunities, information and companionship for veterans.

Who are we looking for?

The ideal candidate has experience of and understands the veterans’ community, the mental health challenges veterans face, and the support network available to veterans in Scotland, particularly in the Edinburgh and Lothian area.
